Promoting healthy lifestyles is a key aspect of life at Shirebrook Academy. Students have a range of opportunities to learn about different aspects of health, including healthy eating, benefits of exercise, emotional health and well-being, relationships and sexual health, and drugs and alcohol. The PSHE curriculum is delivered through super learning days, but students also learn about these topics across the curriculum, for example in Science, PE, English and the Y7 Street curriculum.
For individual needs, students in all year groups can see Sharon Whitworth the school nurse. Sharon is in school for a confidential lunchtime drop-in service on Wednesday lunchtimes and also takes individual referrals at other times. A range of other agencies also visit school to support students, for example counseling services. Please contact form tutors, head of year, or Miss Cartledge if you would like more information about the support available.
