About Shirebrook Academy
Shirebrook Academy will open its doors to students in September 2010. Housed initially in the existing buildings of Shirebrook School, students and staff will transfer to the brand new Academy building in 2012.
At the heart of our vision lies a culture of supportive learning, respect for all and strong self-discipline. Set within a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment in which personal achievement will be as important as national attainment.
Exciting new learning opportunities will begin as soon as the first term is underway. We aim to offer the highest standards of education to your children, providing teaching that is relevant to the needs of a fast-changing world and equipping them to play their own key role within it.
We are proud to be sponsored by AllRoads, the highways contracting arm of Derbyshire County Council, in conjunction with Sheffield Hallam University, which will be our educational partner. We aim to build on our existing specialism of Science by adding a second of Construction, and look forward to the role our Sponsor will play in helping us to succeed.
Shirebrook Academy intends to play an active and involved part in the local community, helping to raise achievement, attainment and inspiration for all. We are especially excited by the opportunities to co-locate the Academy with Stubbin Wood Special School.
