Welcome to Shirebrook Academy’s Learning Resource Centre

Department statement
Shirebrook Academy Learning Resource Centre has recently been transformed and modernised so as to make its environment fit for the 21st Century learner.
The Learning Resource Centre is situated at the heart of Shirebrook Academy’s buildings and provides a vast array of print and ICT resources to aid students with reading and research material to improve independent learning and knowledge.
In liaison with Tracy Horton (PSHE Coordinator) and Connexions, the Learning Resource Centre also boasts an extensive array of College and University Prospectuses and information guidance on Post 16 opportunities.
There is a comprehensive amount of fiction and Non- fiction works to enable students to develop their reading skills and repertoire and students are encouraged to use the library loaning service to borrow books to take home.
The Learning Resource Centre is used by students and teachers during lessons and is also open at break times, lunchtimes and after school to enable students to complete homework tasks, to develop research, to use ICT resources or simply to relax and read!
The Learning Resource Centre is managed by Daniel Barrow and a team of Student Librarians, supported by Lindsay Ward (Advanced Skills Teacher- English) and Tim Croft (Vice Principal- Teaching and Learning).
