As a student at Shirebrook Academy, your personal growth and well-being will be at the heart of our educational philosophy. This Academy is based on the idea that each and every student deserves the best – the best teaching, the best pastoral care and the best attention to personal development and fulfilment. Respect for the individual is at the heart of our vision. We look forward to meeting you, and to helping you to achieve your goals.

Shirebrook Academy is the best
Shirebrook Academy is the best
We cancel out all the rest
All our kids are really bizarre
They all deserve an A star!

We look sharp as a razor
In our blazers
In our cravats and clip on tie’s
We put a twinkle in their eyes

The other schools cant match our skills
When we meet them we give them chills
Shirebrook Academy os all success
Shirebrook Academy is the best

Our principal well, what can we say?
She really brightens up our day
She may be new to our school,
But all the kids think she’s cool

With the sixth form on its way
All the other kids can stay
Construction work will make it better
Our school will look a real go – getter!

With a English teacher like Mrs Ward
All her students never get bored
All her lessons are groovy and fun
Teacher of the year, she’s won!

Shirebrook Academy is the best
We cancel out all the rest!

YES project
Shirebrook Academy students Keiran Plastow, Bradley Drew, Keelan Cooper and Nevi Jenkins have recently completed the seven week YES! (Youth engagement scheme) programme at Shirebrook Fire Station. The students showed fantastic enthusiasm and commitment to complete the demanding course. The students quickly learnt many fire service skills as well as developing self esteem, confidence, teamwork and communication skills. The course was a steep learning curve for all involved and they worked together to bond as an excellent team, with Nevi Jenkins being nominated as team leader. All of the students demonstrated excellent support for each other in devloping skills need by individuals in the fire service. The boys learnt how to run the fire hose, pump operating procedures and how to utilise a fire service ladder to rescue someone. The students also participated in oz boxing sessions, Shop Face project with Junction Arts, road traffic collision/road safety training and health and safety certificates.
Parents and Miss Brannick recently attended the passing our parade. Miss Brannick commented ‘it was wonderful to see our students at the passing out parade, it really was obvious how much they have grown in confidence since the start of the project. Everyone looked superb in their fire service uniforms and I am really proud of all our students involved.’
