Course(s) over view
In Key Stage 3 (KS3) our curriculum includes electronics, textiles, food technology, resistant materials and construction. All students will be given the chance to study the designing and making aspects of all of these listed subjects so that when the time is right for them to choose, they are able to make informed decisions about which technology subject area is best for them.
In Key Stage 4 (KS4) we have a diverse curriculum which opens the doors into many higher education placements and also into apprenticeships and the jobs market.
We currently offer GCSE’s in the following subjects:
• Electronics
• Food Technology
• Textiles
We are also pleased to offer from September 2011 a BTEC level 2 qualification in Construction.
How will I be assessed?
In GCSE subjects, the assessment is always 40% written examination and 60% project work which includes both designing and making.
BTEC qualifications are assessed purely on coursework, there are no exams!!
Where next?
Our GCSE qualifications lead to higher education such as ‘A’ Level study or can lead to any career where problem solving is a requirement.
Our BTEC Level 2 qualifications can lead to Level 3 qualifications at college or can be a springboard into the construction sector in a job or an apprenticeship.
