Promoting healthy lifestyles is a key aspect of life at Shirebrook Academy. Students have a range of opportunities to learn about different aspects of health, including healthy eating, benefits of exercise, emotional health and well-being, relationships and sexual health, and drugs and alcohol. The statutory RSHE curriculum is delivered through Personal Development (see Curriculum section for further details), but students also learn about these topics across the curriculum, for example in Science, PE, Humanities and English.
For individual needs, students can access support via form tutors or pastoral staff. A number of external organisations can also provide support, for example school nurse, sexual health promotion service, Victim Support services. Please contact form tutors, heads of year or pastoral staff if you would like help with any health or wellbeing issue.
